NEUROMORPHIC 1.0

NEUROMORPHIC COMPUTING

The Neuromorphic Computing & Spiking Neural Networks Sector at Mektro is an exploratory nucleus, still in formation yet strategically vital. While other divisions operate in applied domains, this unit is devoted to foundational work — surveying the state of the art, mapping the theoretical landscape, and building the conceptual infrastructure of neuromorphic computation. Our mission begins in understanding: how systems that think like the brain might reshape the structure of intelligence itself.

Neuromorphic computing represents a profound departure from the traditional Von Neumann architecture, replacing linear, clock-driven processing with distributed, event-driven dynamics. Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) embody this shift, encoding information through discrete temporal spikes rather than continuous activations. They compute only when events occur — transforming time into information and enabling energy-aware, adaptive, and context-sensitive systems. This is not merely a new form of AI, but a new form of computation.

Our research extends these principles into large-scale AI architectures where neuromorphic ideas reappear under new forms. Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) models, sparse activation, and conditional computation mirror biological selectivity — activating only relevant pathways per input. The 2025 DeepSeek release, where a 600-billion-parameter model operated on minimal clusters, revealed this paradigm’s power: intelligence can scale through structure and sparsity, not brute computational mass. It was a glimpse of the neuromorphic future emerging within conventional AI.

This is the path Mektro follows — the synthesis of biological inspiration and computational evolution. We study, theorize, and design before building, ensuring that our direction remains anchored in clarity. The sector’s purpose is to understand how spiking dynamics, sparse computation, and distributed intelligence can converge into architectures that transcend hardware constraints. In this intersection of theory and practice, we prepare the groundwork for cognition that is vast yet efficient, artificial yet deeply organic.

ARCHITECTURES OF COGNITION

THE ESSENCE

Neuromorphic computing redefines logic itself. It abandons the Von Neumann separation of memory and processing, introducing architectures where computation unfolds as interaction and emergence. By mimicking neural topologies and synaptic adaptation, these systems process information through pulses and patterns, not instructions. This approach achieves parallelism, efficiency, and fault tolerance — qualities inherent to living systems and increasingly vital to advanced AI design.

SNN

SNNs (Spiking Neural Networks) form the mathematical and conceptual foundation of neuromorphic computation. Each neuron fires spikes that encode both data and time, transforming sequences of events into a living computational rhythm. This event-driven logic enables sparse, localized activity and exceptional energy efficiency. At Mektro, we study SNNs not as biological simulations, but as models for scalable, adaptive, and time-sensitive computation.

NEUROMORPHIC IN LARGE MODELS

Modern AI architectures are unconsciously rediscovering neuromorphic logic. Mixture-of-Experts systems, conditional routing, and sparsely activated layers mimic the selectivity of neural circuits. DeepSeek’s 2025 demonstration — running massive models on modest clusters — confirmed the viability of this principle: that intelligence thrives in structured efficiency. Our research investigates these convergences, seeking a unified theory where neuromorphic design informs large-model computation.

THE LAB

Our laboratory advances through comprehension before construction. We map the state of the art in neuromorphic computing, analyze theoretical frontiers, and prototype frameworks that merge spiking dynamics with distributed AI. This sector functions as Mektro’s frontier of abstraction — a place for studying how cognition can emerge from efficient structure. Our trajectory is long-term, our focus precise: to prepare the scientific foundation for when intelligence becomes both digital and alive.
